Linda D’Arcy has taken a risk or two in her time dealing with all things digital.
The General Manager, Special Projects the Lindsay Yates Group actually prefers to find ways of avoiding risk, but that is not to say she hasn’t taken a risk along the way.
It’s what has kept her clients phoning up to book the next appointment.
After wowing her bosses at one of Australia’s first digital print companies WYSIWYG Design, Linda sought a new and exciting change of direction within the digital print arena. Following a 15-minute chat with Lindsay Yates Group Director David Shoppee, Linda was offered a role at the then Allied Graphics, which later merged with Lindsay Yates.
A highly experienced member of the Lindsay Yates Group team, Linda has played a significant part in packaging digital printing projects across a range of areas that have gained her great respect in the industry.
Linda’s evolution initially took flight from her mother country England to the fairer shores of Australia in 1990, just as the digital print revolution took hold.Linda has many tools in her armoury of experience and says it is becoming much easier for her clients to gain a better understanding of the pieces that make their digital projects come to life.“My clients always appreciate that I can create an exchange of information where I can take all the risk out of a project,” Linda says.“I can often see the changes that need to be made before a client can, but I also show them why, which makes the job all the easier in the long run.”Passing on her knowledge is just part of the package and Linda adds that her clients are always grateful to be shown the intricacies of how a project will appear digitally.“One of the only misconceptions I occasionally see is that people think the digital world is just the click of a button away, but we can see things in a digital file that others won’t.“Some clients won’t have come across an InDesign file, while others use it to send us ideas. Either way, I can often provide the basic tools they need to make the job easier and I feel that is a big reason why I have great loyalty with my clients.”It is also why Linda can manage all the intricacies of presenting a confidential tender bid that meets all the deadlines, looks immaculate and most importantly, wins the tender.
A seasoned traveller, diver and bucket list ticker, it is no surprise Linda’s worldly experience shows in the projects she manages.Linda is “incredibly passionate” about whaling and supports charitable causes such as conservationist Sea Shepherd. She has dived the depths with whale sharks in Exmouth and has spent a New Year’s Eve with five girlfriends at Time Square in New York. Some of the best things, after all, are just the click of a button away.
